RB Carsyn Baker (6-2 190) visited South Carolina four times in 2024. He made his first of at least three visits for 2025 last weekend for the Gamecocks’ junior day. He was greeted by head coach Shane Beamer and running backs coach Marquel Blackwell.
“It was a great visit. What was great was meeting a lot of the staff. That was like my fifth visit there,” Baker said. “I’m just building a relationship with Coach Blackwell, Coach Beamer and the coaching staff. I really felt like I was a priority to them as they made me feel like one of the top players and a key to their recruiting class for the ’26 class.”
Baker rushed for 1282 yards and scored 15 touchdowns last season. He had 1371 all-purpose yards. On the visit, Beamer and Blackwell again explained to him how he could be a major piece in their offense in 2026.
“How I can be used inside the offense and all this and that,” Baker said. “If I get here, what I can do. They broke down the film for how I can be explosive in their offense in the way they use their backs and how I can make them a lot better.”
Baker obviously has serious interest in South Carolina based on his number of visits there. This most recent visit further advanced that interest.
“It was a very eye-opening visit for me,” Baker said. “I feel very good about South Carolina. They definitely solidified themselves as one of my top five schools, and I’m going to keep visiting and keep getting more intel about them.”
Baker said he will return to USC for a spring practice, and he also plans to schedule an official visit.
Baker visited Georgia the weekend before USC, and he will visit Kentucky this Saturday. Wildcats coach Mark Stoops was in for a visit on Wednesday. Ohio State’s running backs coach also visited this week and he plans to take an official visit with the Buckeyes. And Clemson running backs coach CJ Spiller also visited this week. The Tigers have not offered.
Baker said he will make his decision after his official visits and prior to the start of his season.
