Collin Murray-Boyles, Jacobi Wright and Nick Pringle combined for 58 points, and South Carolina played its best defense of the early season, as the Gamecocks downed CAA pre-season favorite Towson 80-54 Tuesday night at the Colonial Life Arena.
Murray-Boyles led the way with 27 points on 9-12 field goals and 9-10 free throws. Pringle also had a good shooting night hitting 6-8 from the floor and 3-4 from the line. He also had nine rebounds and one block. And Wright knocked down three three-point shots, half of what the Gamecocks made as a team.
The Gamecocks limited the Tigers to a 29.6% shooting percentage (16-54) including 5-25 beyond the arc. They won inside 38-20 and had 19 points off of 14 turnovers.
The Gamecocks are 2-1 and will play at 16th ranked Indiana on Saturday afternoon.
