#STRecruiting: #Clemson lands prized safety prospect Jordan Young in battle with NC State

Jordan Young

Highly coveted SAF Jordan Young (6-0 165) of Monroe, NC Saturday announced a commitment to Clemson during a media gathering at his high school. Young picked the Tigers primarily over NC State where he had visited numerous times. The Wolfpack also offered him the chance to play on offense. He also made a recent visit to Michigan, and he kept Florida State on his short list to the end.

But Clemson was always a major factor as Young worked his way through the process. He visited the Tigers for a game last November then took his official visit the first weekend in June. He has also visited for two games this season.

“It’s not too far and it’s not too close to home either,” Young said after making his announcement via On3 noting that NC State was the toughest team to tell no. “I feel like I have the chance to play early. They’ve just been consistent with me throughout the whole process and I’m just ready to be a Tiger. I feel good, blessed that it’s over and headed to the next step for what football has next for me. I’m a hard working player, a long rangy DB, and when I get the ball in my hands I’m looking to score.”

Some of the other top offers for Young included South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, LSU, Miami, Auburn, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Penn State, Southern Cal, Alabama and Florida State.

Last season Young totaled 66 tackles with five recovered fumbles, four forced fumbles, three pass break ups and an interception. He also caught 34 passes for 812 yards and 8 touchdowns. This season through eight games Young has 25 tackles with five interceptions and eight pass deflections. He also has 18 catches for 420 yards and five touchdowns.

Young gives Clemson 14 commitments for their 2025 class and their third listed as a safety.
