#STRecruiting: Newly offered defensive tackle target will visit #Gamecocks later in November

Josiah Victor

South Carolina defensive tackles coach Travian Robertson offered 2025 DT Josiah Victor (6-2 295) of Loganville, GA one week ago. Victor has been committed to Boston College since July 4th, but he is still looking around. He will make an official visit to NC State this weekend.

Robertson might have been a little late to the party with the offer, but Victor said the two have been in contact for a long time.

“I knew they were interested in me from the jump.  It was just really when they were going to come down, and when they came down, they offered me.  The D-line coach did,” Victor said.  “It was our first game back last Friday because we had like a month off.  He likes my point of attack, my physicality and my grit.  He just likes how I play, and I fit in their scheme.”

And that scheme excites Victor. He has not yet seen the Gamecocks in person, but on television their defense has looked really good to him.

“They’ve been great this year,” Victor said.  “They have the best defense in the SEC right now.  They are very relentless from me watching the game.  That South Carolina-LSU game, that game was pretty good.  I just like how they play.  They play gritty, just like my team.”

Victor plans to make an unofficial visit to Columbia November 16th for the Missouri game. He has been to games this season at Boston College, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida State and Florida. He also made an official visit to Virginia in June. Some other offers are Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Arizona State, Colorado and East Carolina.

As he makes the rounds and meets with the various staffs, there’s one thing Victor is looking for that will seal the deal.

“Really just relationship and consistency,” he said.  “The relationship part, I feel like relationship plays a big role in college sports, college football.  If you’re not clicking with the coach, I feel like you’re just not going to click on the field.  I just feel like that relationship with the coaches, that’s really big with me.”

Victor had a game Thursday night that drew several coaches from Georgia Tech. He has a teammate committed to Tech. Going into that game, Victor had 23 tackles and two sacks on the season.
