Clemson offensive line coach Matt Luke Friday picked up another piece for his room with a commitment from center Gavin Blanchard (6-3 300) of Tampa. Blanchard had been committed to UCF since June.
Blanchard, who has family in Greenville, made several trips to Clemson in the spring and summer of 2023. He also attended a game last November. Blanchard also camped with the Tigers in the summer and was in for a junior day last January.
But Clemson did not make a strong move with him despite that involvement, and he ultimately committed to UCF following an official visit there in June.
However, Luke kept in contact with Blanchard, and after missing on other targets, most notably Nelson McGuire of Texas, he turned up his interest that led to the change of heart. Blanchard also had offers from Pittsburgh, TCU, Indiana, Purdue and Georgia Tech.
Blanchard is the fourth offensive lineman to commit to the Tigers for the 2025 recruiting class and the 14th overall.
