South Carolina is still in the market for offensive linemen in the 2025 class considering they have just one committed. Thursday, Gamecock offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley made the call to Lancaster OG Kevin Peay (6-4 305). Peay is a Shrine Bowl selection and Georgia Tech commitment, and he had been wondering when Teasley would make that call.
“My communication has been great with them lately,” Peay said. “It took kind of a minute for them to offer me because he didn’t think he was going to take any guards in this year, so it was kind of hard for me to get the offer. I feel like I should have been gotten the offer because I’m one of the best guys in the state. I’m an All-State offensive tackle, offensive guard, so I feel like it should have been happen though.”
Peay added that he feels there’s no doubt the Gamecocks see a lot of potential in him.
“The whole coaching staff thinks I’m a great athlete,” Peay said. “I’m a stud on the offense line. It’s just the way I play. Definitely my strength (stands out). The way I attach to the blocks. Plus, my mobility to dominate blocks, stay engaged. My technique is to knock the player in front of me.”
Peay added that the offer from the Gamecocks was a boost to his self-esteem as an in-state football prospect.
“Me just knowing that I’m the best player in the state, it kind of just boots that feeling for me,” he said. “I know the things I can do and the things I can do for any program at this level.”
Peay visited USC for the Akron game. He’s not yet scheduled an official visit and is not sure about a return for another home game at this point. He’s still good with his Georgia Tech commitment, so there’s more work to be done by the Gamecocks before he’ll consider a change in plans.
“For South Carolina being a home state school, that’s great, but at the same time, I know I’m still locked in with Georgia Tech,” Peay said. “Me having to build the relationship I have with South Carolina, that’s got to be strong in order for me to either flip or do anything. I’ve just got to build a strong relationship with those guys.”
Peay has bas been to three Georgia Tech games this season. He was recently offered by Vanderbilt and will take an official visit with the Commodores this weekend.
Peay will be an early grad and will sign in December.
