Dawn Staley has the first brick in the wall for her 2025 recruiting class. The USC women’s basketball coach Thursday landed a commitment from 6-2 Ayla McDowell of Cypress, TX. McDowell chose the Gamecocks over Georgia Tech, Florida, TCU, LSU and Mississippi State.
McDowell made her official visit with the Gamecocks the weekend of October 4th.
“One thing important to me is I have to be happy wherever I go. I felt happy there,” McDowell told reporters following her announcement. “I was surrounded by great teammates and coaches. I felt comfortable. I just loved it there.”
Last season McDowell averaged 20 points and niine rebounds per game.
