Palmetto Pigskin Tour 2024: SC State Bulldogs (AUDIO)

The Palmetto Pigskin Tour for 2024 made its traditional first stop Monday night at South Carolina State University. It’s a new era of football for the Bulldogs with Chennis Berry replacing legendary coach Buddy Pough who won 151 games and the HBCU National Championship in 22 seasons. He retired as the school’s all-time winningest coach.

Berry made a name for himself quickly at Benedict College winning 27 of 34 games in three seasons. He led the Tigers to the D2 Playoffs each of the past two seasons.

The Bulldogs finished 5-6 last season, but that included losses to FBS opponents Charlotte and Georgia Tech. There tied for second in the MEAC with a 3-2 record. They will open their season August 31st at Florida A&M followed by road games at The Citadel and Georgia Southern. The home opener will be September 28th against North Carolina A&T.
