South Carolina coach Shane Beamer said during the week he expected some commitments to fall from this weekend’s visits for the spring game. The first one came Saturday afternoon from CB Shamari Earls (6-2 185) of Chester, VA.
Earls had an impressive offer list which he narrowed to a top nine of USC, Duke, Georgia, Virginia, Texas A&M, Alabama, Tennessee, Maryland and Michigan State.
Earls visited the Gamecocks last April and returned for a junior day in January. This spring he visited Tennessee, Texas A&M and Georgia. He has an official visit set with the Gamecocks for May 31st. He also had officials set with Duke and Virginia.
Last season Earls had 25 tackles with three interceptions and four pass break ups. He also plays receiver and last season he had 29 catches for 715 yards and eight touchdowns. He finished the season with 887 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns.
Earls becomes the Gamecocks fifth commitment for the 2025 class. He may be joined Sunday by fellow Virginian Kendall Daniels of Norfolk. He’s expected to announce for the Gamecocks over Duke, Virginia Tech and Penn State.
Recruiting looks good.
