The USC Board of Trustees Friday afternoon approved a contract for the newly hired receivers coach James Coley, and they also approved a one year contact extension for defensive ends coach Sterling Lucas.
Coley, who is joining the Gamecocks from the Texas A&M staff, received a two-year deal that will pay him $650,000 in 2024 and $850,000 in 2025. Team performance bonuses are also built into the contract.
Lucas received a one year extension taking his contract through the end of 2025. Lucas made $475,000 in 2023. His pay was boosted to $575,000 per season starting in 2024.
The Board did not act on a contact for new running backs coach Marqel Blackwell who is also coming from Texas A&M. His hiring was just reported on Friday afternoon. He was recommended to Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer by Coley. Beamer apparently was closing in on Liberty running backs coach Newland Isaac until he interviewed Blackwell earlier this week.
