It didn’t take very long for 2025 ATH Marquise Henderson (5-10 170) of Belton-Honea Path to make a decision after getting a Clemson offer Sunday. Monday morning, Henderson announced a commitment to the Tigers.
Henderson rushed for 2336 yards and 37 touchdowns this season, but Clemson views him as an athlete, with cornerback or slot receiver likely being his position with the Tigers.
Henderson had 17 offers after Clemson stepped up. Some of his others were Vanderbilt, Arizona, Boston College, Virginia, West Virginia, NC State, Georgia Tech and Cincinnati.
Henderson was invited to watch the Clemson bowl practice Sunday, and head coach Dabo Swinney delivered the offer to him personally.”
“I got the offer in his office, and it was emotional. I started tearing up. It was very emotional for me, but it was a good time,” Henderson said. “Ever since the first time I went to Clemson, I already knew that was my home and that was the offer I was waiting on. Clemson is a family atmosphere. Everything about Clemson is family. I love the fanbase. I love everything Dabo has got going at Clemson.”
Though he’s best known for his skills as a running back, Henderson said in October Clemson’s approach to him as an athlete suited him as well.
“I play all over the field. I’m an athlete. It doesn’t matter what I play,” he said. “No matter where I play, I’m going to get the job done. I’m a really explosive player on the offensive side. And my quickness, I can turn it on just like that. I feel like that’s a strength for me. You don’t see a lot of players that can do that nowadays. So yes, sir, I feel like that’s a strength for me.”
Henderson said in October that he actually grew up a USC fan. The Gamecocks have not offered him, and at that time he said he was told by them he needed to put on another 10-15 pounds.
Henderson is the seventh commitment for the Tigers’ 2025 class and is the second from in the state joining South Florence DT Amare Adams. Adams and Henderson are considered by many as the top two prospects in the state for 2025.
