After missing out on the early rankings, the Clemson Tigers are back in the College Football Playoff rankings for the 52nd time. Fresh off three straight victories over Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, and North Carolina, the Tigers return to the polls at #24 on Tuesday night. Clemson is sandwiched in between two “Group of Five” programs, with Tulane ranked 23rd and Liberty checking in at #25. The Tigers, of course, wrap up the regular season this weekend at South Carolina.
Georgia remained #1 in the poll, with Ohio State checking in at #2. Michigan is third, and Washington is fourth. Florida State dropped to 5th in this week’s rankings, just outside the four playoff spots. When asked if the demotion is due to starting quarterback Jordan Travis being injured, selection committee chairman Boo Corrigan said the injury had “no impact” on Florida State’s ranking this week, according to Brett McMurphy of the Action Network.
