Late last week we made our Palmetto Pigskin Tour stop at Allen University in downtown Columbia. Coach Teddy Keaton is going into his fifth season, and he continues to build his program brick by brick. In the off season new artificial turf was put down for the practice field. It’s only 50 yards long, and it constitutes the front yard of a dorm, but it’s something new for the program.
In the works is a new stadium for the Yellow Jackets which Keaton expects to be ready by the 2024 season. Again this season, the Yellow Jackets will play their home games at Westwood High School.
Keaton is looking to improve on last season’s two victories, which could have been five or six, with better results in close games. He plans to continue to throw the ball a lot and expects quarterback David Wright to have a big season.
