New USC pitching coach Matt Williams has strong ties to the state. He grew up in Lancaster, attended SMC and Limestone, and coached legion ball in the Upstate as well as at Spartanburg Methodist. The opportunity to return to his home state from Liberty where he had spent the last four seasons was too good to turn down when Gamecocks’ head coach Mark Kingston made him the offer.
Last week Williams joined us on SportsTalk to talk about what he thinks he will bring to the USC program and how he tries to work with his pitchers.
