USC Tuesday missed on a pair of running backs they were courting out of the Transfer Portal. The #1 target was Logan Diggs of Notre Dame. He made an official visit earlier in the month, after having visited Ole Miss. Then he visited LSU, where his former coach at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly, is head coach. Diggs also is a native of Louisiana, and the pull to come home was too strong as he committed to the Tigers.

Another running back target from the Portal was Demi Sumo-Karngbaye of NC State. He also made an official visit. Then, Kentucky got involved and he visited there recently. Today he announced for the Wildcats.

USC is in the middle of the battle for DE Kameryn Fountain (6-6 237) of Atlanta. Fountain said Monday night the Gamecocks rank among his top three at this point, though he did not disclose his full top three. USC recruiter Sterling Lucas was in last week according to Fountain and he’s considering an official visit to USC either this summer or during the football season. Fountain visited USC for a spring practice in early April and said he was impressed by how the defense operates. Fountain has official visits set with Southern Cal June 2nd and Tennessee June 23rd. He said he will also take an official visit to Georgia. Florida State also is a factor, and he just picked up an offer from Texas. Last season Fountain had 56 tackles with 12 tackles for loss and 7 sacks.

Clemson target WR Alex Taylor of Greensboro, NC has set July 29th for his commitment announcement according to a story by the 247Sports site InsideCarolina. Taylor has official visits set with Clemson June 2nd, Virginia Tech June 7th, NC State June 16th and North Carolina June 23rd. He also has Tennessee, Penn State and Cincinnati on his short list.

Clemson target OT Casey Poe set an official visit with Georgia for May 19th. He also has visits set with Clemson June 2nd, Texas Tech June 9th, Auburn June 16th, Alabama June 23rd and Oklahoma July 28th.

Recruiters have been making their way to Findlay, OH this month to watch 2025 QB Ryan Montgomery throw. According to his father, Clemson quarterback coach and offensive coordinator Garrett Riley is planning to visit this week, and USC QB coach and OC Dowell Loggains is planning to visit the final weekend of the month. Montgomery visited both schools in the spring.

USC target DE Jordan Thomas of Ramsey, NJ was offered by Florida State.

Greenville DT Julius Tate was offered by Jackson State and North Carolina Central.

ATH Troy Stevenson of Phillip Simmons was offered by Cincinnati.

Summerville WR Yannick Smith was offered by UAB. He also has offers from Wofford, Citadel, Miami of Ohio, North Carolina Central, Central Michigan, Georgia State, Elon ETSU, UTC, Jackson State and Arkansas State.

Former Coastal Carolina WR Mal Taylor is transferring to The Citadel.

Former Campbell WR Dervon Pesnell is transferring to The Citadel.

Wofford basketball signed 6-2 Chase Cormier transfer from Northeastern, 6-2 Dillon Bailey transfer from Northeastern State, 6-8 Belal El Shakery, a native of Egypt who played last season in Massachusetts, and 6-0 Quentin Meza of West Valley City, UT.

Per his Instagram account, 2025 6-5 Jermaine O’Neal Jr. of Dallas visited USC Tuesday. He was in Columbia with his father, former Eau Claire and NBA star Jermaine O’Neal, who was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame last night.
