



Monday night at the Columbia Convention Center, the newest class for the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame received their coveted blue jackets, symbolic of their inclusion in an exclusive group of athletes with ties to the Palmetto State. The roster for the Hall grew by eight former stars, seven from the recent past and one from the history books.
The newest inductees were former USC soccer coach Mark Berson, former USC and NFL wide receiver Robert Brooks, former Clemson and NFL quarterback Woody Dantzler, former USC and Olympic track athlete Dawn Ellerbe, former Macedonia High, Georgia Tech and NFL quarterback Joe Hamilton, former Eau Claire and NBA forward Jermaine O’Neal, former Clemson golf coach Larry Penley and former Negroes League baseball star Charles “Chino” Smith of Antioch.
Prior to the start of the ceremonies, Brooks and Penley stopped by our location to talk about their big night ahead.
