#Gamecocks reportedly losing DL coach Jimmy Lindsey to LSU

USC is expected to lost DL coach Jimmy Lindsey to LSU (Gamecock Athletics)

Defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, a member of Shane Beamer’s original staff at USC, is on his way to Baton Rouge to join Brian Kelly’s staff at LSU according to Friday afternoon reports. Matt Zenitz of On3, citing sources, reported Lindsey’s hire by the Tigers, a move apparently first mentioned publicly by John Brice of Football Scoop.

Lindsey was hired by Beamer in January of 2021 to handle the Gamecocks’ defensive line. He coached at Illinois in 2020, and before that he spent two seasons at Western Kentucky working under Clayton White, the Gamecocks’ current defensive coordinator.

At USC, Lindsey helped to develop defensive tackles Zacch Pickens, Alex Huntley and Tonka Hemingway, each earning postseason awards under his watch.

Lindsey was given a contract extension through the 2024 season in January that was to pay him $475,000 per season. Per his contract, he will owe USC $300,000 for breaking the contract in its first year.
