USC baseball coach Mark Kingston met with the media Thursday on the eve of his sixth season at the helm of the Gamecock program. Kingston revamped his roster in the offseason bringing in 20 new players in hopes of getting the Gamecocks back to the NCAA Tournament after suffering a losing season in 2022.
Kingston is banking on a talented pitching staff, anchored by Will Sanders. to carry the team. He also believes the shift of Braylen Wimmer from second to short will be part of an overall improved defense.
The Gamecocks open their season at home Friday with the first of a three game series against UMass-Lowell. Sanders will start Friday followed by Noah Hall on Saturday and Jack Mahoney on Sunday.
