Wofford baseball coach Todd Interdonato comes into the 2023 season with high expectations for the Terriers following a 42-16 record in 2022. Wofford has won the last two regular season Southern Conference championships but missed the NCAA Tournament each time. Following their stellar 2022 regular season, the Terriers came up one game short of the tournament championship and the SoCon’s automatic bid. Coach Interdonato hopes that near-miss fuels his team this year as they look to capitalize on an abundance of returning talent.
Wofford is picked to win the conference, again, according to both the media and coaches polls. Senior RHP Matthew Marchal (7-2, 2.52), the conference’s preseason Pitcher of the Year, leads a group of five Terriers selected to the all-SoCon team. Joining Marchal on the first-team are righthanded reliever Luke Stephens (2.50, .211 batting average against), 1B Ryan Galanie (17 HR, 59 RBI) and 2B Brice Martinez (.331). Outfielder Trey Yunger (.297, 11 SB, 1.000 fielding pct.) was named to the SoCon’s second-team.
Interdonato recently joined us on SportsTalk to preview the upcoming season which begins Friday at home against Southern Illinois.
