A key member of the USC offense announced Sunday he will return to the Gamecocks for the 2023 season. WR/QB Dakereon Joyner revealed on his social media outlets that he’ll be back in a Gamecock uniform for a six season.

Joyner compiled stats this season as a runner, passer and kick returner, and he even recorded one tackle. He had 12 rushes for 56 yards and 2 touchdowns, caught 8 passes for 120 yards and 2 scores and returned one kickoff for 12 yards.

For his career, Joyner has rushed for 325 yards and 4 touchdowns, caught 45 passes for 442 yards and 4 touchdowns, passed for 444 yards and 2 touchdowns, and has 225 yards in kickoff returns.

Joyner’s importance to the team, however, can’t be measured strictly by the stats. Coach Shane Beamer has time and again cited Joyner’s leadership qualities as being a major bonus for the program.

Also Sunday, reserve running back Rashad Amos entered the NCAA Transfer Portal. In his three seasons at USC, he had 20 carries for 106 yards.
