There is still work to be done by USC coach Shane Beamer and his staff before the 2023 recruiting class can be totally put to bed, but the players who officially signed Wednesday, and the transfers who have pledged to join the program next month, had Beamer plenty excited when he met with the media Wednesday afternoon.
The Gamecocks announced the signings of 20 high school recruits, and they await at least three others for this week. Committed CB Vicari Swain is scheduled to sign at 6:00, committed DE Zavion Hardy hopes to sign by Friday if approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, and QB target LaNorris Sellers of South Florence will announce between the Gamecocks, Syracuse and Liberty Friday morning.
As for some team notes…WR Jaylen Brooks is dealing with some personal matters, he is practicing and will travel with the team to the bowl, but it’s not known if he will play; Antwane Wells is practicing and ready to go for the game; Devonni Reed will not play in the bowl game; Cason Henry and Tyshawn Wannamaker are two of the players working at right tackle in place of Dylan Wonnum.
Wednesday Beamer recapped the class and took questions from the media regarding the signees and team developments as bowl practice continues.
