Coastal Carolina football presented a double feature on Wednesday afternoon, with new head coach Tim Beck discussing recruiting and interim head coach Chad Staggs speaking about bowl preparation. And from Beck’s perspective, the Chanticleers’ signing class is similar to the Allstate “Mayhem” commercial about pee-wee football. The class may be small, but he believes it is mighty!
CCU announced just six signees on “National Signing Day,” though Beck says there are a few others that will be coming via the transfer portal, but those players have not signed their NLIs. According to Coastal football, four of the signees will enroll for the spring semester in January 2023 and will participate in spring practice with the Chanticleers. All six of the recruits are on the defensive side of the ball.

After Beck’s time behind the mic concluded, interim head coach and defensive coordinator Chad Staggs stepped forward to preview next Tuesday’s Birmingham Bowl against East Carolina. Staggs noted that the team had taken the past couple of days off to spend an early Christmas with their families. The squad will reconvene in Conway on Wednesday night for practice and then head to Birmingham, Alabama, on Thursday evening.
