#STRecruiting Notebook 12-9

Two of the state’s top players were involved with major recruiting activity Thursday night. 2023 RB Jarvis Green of Dutch Fork was offered by Clemson, an offer he has called his “dream offer.” The Tigers are going to take two running backs in the class and are in position to land Jamarius Haynes of Roanoke, AL when he announces December 21st. The offer to Green no doubt puts the Tigers in great position to add him as well. Virginia Tech also offered Green Thursday night. UAB offered earlier in the week. Green, a finalist for Mr. Football, has had in home visits this week with Appalachian State James Madison. He has been committed to the Dukes since August. This season Green rushed for 2272 yards and 33 touchdowns.

The other major new news came from 2024 WR Mazeo Bennett of Greenville High. He announced a decommitment from Tennessee coming in the wake of the departure of offensive coordinator Alex Golesh, the new head coach at USF. In making his announcement on Twitter, Bennett wrote,” With the recent changes in the coaching staff, me and my family have decided to take a step back and re-evaluate Tennessee and others. Tennessee will still be one of my top schools.” USC was one of the other schools Bennett had on his short list when he committed to the Vols in October. The others were Oregon, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Miami, North Carolina, and Alabama. Clemson has expressed interest but has not offered. That, however, may soon change. The Tigers have recruited Greenville High hard over the last two years signing tight end Josh Sapp last year and gaining a commitment from wide receiver Tyler Brown for this class. They’ve also made a strong push for 2024 offensive tackle Blake Franks. This season Bennett had 47 catches for 857 yards and 14 touchdowns. He had 1683 all-purpose yards.

RB Jamarion Wilcox of Douglasville, GA named a top four of Clemson, Auburn, Kentucky and Ohio State.

2024 OT Josiah Thompson of Dillon has USC and Clemson in his top nine. The others are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
