#STRecruiting Notebook 6-27 (UPDATED Monday PM)

DE TJ Searcy (6-5 250) of Thomaston, GA was among the official visitors at USC over the weekend. That was the last of his four official visits in June. The first three were Clemson, Florida and Tennessee. Monday afternoon Searcy announced a top four of USC, Clemson, Florida and Tennessee. He has not yet provided a timeline for a commitment announcement.

DE Chandavian Bradley of Platte City, MO also was in for an official visit to USC over the weekend. Monday, he named a final three of USC, Texas A&M and Tennessee. He took official visits in June to USC and Texas A&M, and he took an unofficial visit to Tennessee in May.

Camden DE Xzavier McLeod took an official visit to Michigan over the weekend. Answering questions from followers on his Instagram, McLeod said he would be committing “soon”, and he also said he would go to games at LSU and Michigan this season.

Former Clemson RB Demarkcus Bowman, who left the Tigers for Florida, is now headed to UCF. And another former Clemson RB, Lyn-J Dixon, who transferred to West Virginia in the offseason, is back in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

An NCAA mandated dead period is now in place until the final week of July, so the latest run of official and unofficial visits are done. For many prospects, it also means they are done with their recruiting and are ready to announce, if they haven’t done so already. There will be a flurry of USC and Clemson prospects announcing their college choice over the next two weeks.

Here’s a list of the scheduled announcements:

6/30/2022 TREYAUN WEBB RB is coming off an official visit to USC, and also took OVs to Florida and Penn State.
7/1/2022 BRAYLON JOHNSON SAF is coming off an official to Virginia Tech, where his dad played, and he took an OV to USC as well.
7/1/2022 JAYBRON HARVEY DE took OVs to USC, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Louisville.
7/4/2022 ZECHARIAH OWENS OT took his only official visit to Clemson June 3rd.
7/5/2022 KELDRIC FAULK DE made OVs to Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee and Auburn.
7/8/2022 PETER WOODS DT took OV to Clemson and Florida, and also has Alabama and Oklahoma in final four.

Two in-state prospects also have announcement dates coming up. Wren SAF Travon West is set for Wednesday and is coming off an official visit to Indiana. And SAF Thomas Williams of Powdersville announces on July 4th. Virginia Tech was his lone official visit.

SAF Jaden Robinson, who is coming off an official visit to USC, named a top four of USC, Kentucky, Maryland and Michigan.

USC target CB RJ Johnson committed to Arkansas.

SAF Dakaari Nelson, who was also a Clemson target, committed to Penn State.

Clemson is out of contention for DT Darron Reed who is down to Ohio State and LSU per 247Sports. He’s coming off an official visit to Ohio State and will announce his decision July 4th.

According to a story by the Nebraska 247Sports site, USC is out of the running for RB Dontavius Braswell, who is down to Alabama, Nebraska, Boston College and Oregon. He is coming off an official visit to Boston College. He took an official visit to USC June 10th. The Gamecocks primary focus at running back has been on Treyaun Webb who made his official visit over the weekend.

USC target WR London Humphreys of Nashville took an official visit to Vanderbilt over the weekend. He had considered coming to the Gamecocks cookout Saturday. He’s now looking at a visit to Columbia in the last week of July.

At least four key targets from the 2024 class visited USC Saturday for the Carolina Cookout…QB Dante Reno, WR Mazeo Bennett, OT Blake Franks and OT Fletcher Westphal (6-8 330) of Leesburg, VA who left with an offer from the Gamecocks.

Airport WR Apollos Cook committed to Duke.

LS Gannon Burt of Fort Mill committed to Florida.

Chapin TE/DE Max Drag committed to Appalachian State.

Dutch Fork RB Jarvis Green on a visit Saturday to James Madison.

Clemson offered 6-1 Brandon Rechsteiner of Woodstock, GA. He also has offers from Appalachian State, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Dayton, Northwestern, Wichita State, Kansas State, Wofford, George Mason, Vermont, Xavier, Tulane, Rice, Toledo and North Florida.
