Fort Dorchester DT Demetrius Watson (6-2 285) made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday night for the Florida game. He went into the visit with a plan to visit with head coach Shane Beamer and defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey and then release some news about his recruiting status. He did meet with the coaches, but in the rush of the celebration of last night’s win, Watson has delayed taking the next step with the Gamecocks until sometime Sunday.
“When we got there, we ate a little bit and then we did the Gamecock Walk,” Watson said. “I talked to a few players that use to go to Fort Dorchester with me. After that, we went back to the recruiting room and got a speech from coach D-Moore (Derrick Moore). We watched the game and went back at halftime and ate some hot dogs. After the game, I talked to coach Lindsey and coach Beamer. I’ll be talking with them later and then we’ll be getting the news out to the public. I’m waiting on a call from them right now.”
When that call comes, Watson said he’ll be ready to finalize some things with the Gamecock coaches and then will make his plans public.
