Compact arm action from a high 3/4’s arm slot, plenty of upper body lean to let his arm through, has very good arm speed, some energy at release, gets good downhill angle to his pitches. Fastball topped at 93 mph, gets nice arm side running life at times and works down in the zone consistently, primary fastball pitcher. Threw a soft curveball as his breaking ball, likely to develop a slider at the next level as arm action not conducive to a curveball. Strike thrower who works quickly.
INF Jack Reynolds of AC Flora, who decommitted from USC last week, committed to Clemson. Scouting report from Perfect Game: Slender young middle infielder’s build with plenty of room to get stronger. 6.71 runner in the sixty. Has nice polished actions in the middle infield on defense, nice footwork that give him good balance and put his hands in position to be soft and sure, compact arm action with a quick release on his throws, can make plays on the move, may profile best at second base at the next level. Left handed hitters, loads his hands tight and has a short contact oriented swing, moves the ball around the field with a line drive swing plane, bat speed will continue to improve with additional strength and more separation through contact.
2023 LHP Justin Leguernic (6-5 175) of Dix Hills, NY committed to Clemson. Perfect Game had this scouting report on him: Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a high waist, long limbs with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.18 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, takes short steps off of the bag, works on top of throws and shows accuracy on throws; performed well in the outfield, worked behind the ball and shows looseness to arm with balanced actions, projects well moving forward. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, simple delivery with a high leg lift up past belt; loose arm action through the backside and creates angle at release. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, short life to the arm side from a higher three-quarters release point. Filled the zone, maintained release well on changeup with fading life to arm side; mixed a slider with short tilt, tends to slow arm action at release. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Keeps hands inside swing, has timing components to swing and shows carry off the barrel when creating separation and hitting the ball out front. Gets to front side early at times, has tools to project upon.
