Jamey Chadwell and the #Chanticleers preview the start of football practice (AUDIO)

Coastal Carolina head football coach Jamey Chadwell and the Chanticleers begin preseason camp on Wednesday

The Coastal Carolina football team relished in the spotlight last season as the Chanticleers posted an 11-1 campaign in 2020, which included the program’s first ever bowl appearance. On Tuesday, CCU began to turn the page towards the new season and the start of fall camp with a media day at Brooks Stadium in Conway.

Head coach Jamey Chadwell visited with the media for nearly thirty minutes to begin the festivities on a rainy morning along the “Grand Strand”. Chadwell was asked if he’s noticed this year’s team still enjoying the accolades from last season. He stately rather bluntly that, “if we go out and don’t play well, it won’t be because of the outside noise.” Chadwell also touched on how recruiting is improving and what challenges will be faced by his team with six non-Saturday games on the schedule this fall.

After Coach Chadwell completed his spiel, returning offensive standouts Grayson McCall (QB) and Trey Carter (OL), along with defensive lineman C.J. Brewer and cornerback D’Jordan Strong got a chance to vocalize their thoughts on the upcoming season. The group seems to be extremely confident heading into the new year and are especially excited about getting preseason camp cranked up.

Coastal will begin work on Wednesday morning with special teams and position meetings before donning the helmets and taking the field for their first practice of the 2021 preseason fall camp at 8:30am. The Chanticleers are set to kick off the 2021 season at home versus The Citadel on Thursday, Sept. 2nd, at Brooks Stadium.
