#ACCKickoff: Florida State head coach Mike Norvell and players (DE) Jermaine Johnson II, QBs Jordan Travis and McKenzie Milton (AUDIO)

Mike Norvell is beginning his 2nd season as head coach at Florida State (Football Scoop)

Key Stats for FSU: 3-6 last year with no bowl appearance. Return 10 starters on offense and 7 on defense (Youngest team in CFB in ’20). Over the last four years, Florida State has posted a 21-26 overall record with their only CFP appearance coming in 2015.

Offensively, the Seminoles have two options at quarterback. McKenzie Milton (UCF transfer) and Louisville transfer Jordan Travis. Milton, who is on the Maxwell Award (outstanding player in CFB) “Watch List”, guided the Knights to back-to-back undefeated regular seasons and a Peach Bowl win over Auburn in 2018.

On defense, Florida State finished 13th in the ACC in points allowed (36 ppg) and 13th in total defense (456 ypg). The Seminoles should get a boost from transfer defensive end Jermaine Johnson II. At Georgia, Johnson recorded eight tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 21 games.

Florida State opens the season on Sunday, September 5th against Notre Dame. The Seminoles will travel to Clemson on October 30th.
