USC head baseball coach Mark Kingston was quick to turn the page following Tuesday’s 7-2 loss at arch-rival Clemson. On Wednesday, Kingston met with the media and announced another change to his weekend pitching rotation prior to USC’s series at Kentucky.

Brannon Jordan will start on Friday for the second consecutive week, after working six innings in a loss against Mississippi State last weekend. Thomas Farr will toe the rubber on Sunday with reliever Brett Kerry set to make his first start of the season on Saturday.

“Felt it was time to give him a chance to start the game,” Kingston said in explaining the decision to put Kerry into the starting rotation. “Obviously most of the time this year we’ve asked him to go extended. He’s done very well.”

Will Sanders will move back into the bullpen after starting ten games this season for the Gamecocks. Kingston says he’s confident in Sanders returning to his role as a reliever, where he recorded two of his six wins this year.

“I think he got two decisions against Clemson early this season, getting big outs out of the bullpen. That’s the role you can anticipate seeing him in.”

With regards to this weekend at Kentucky, Kingston notes that the Wildcats will not help out the Gamecocks much during the series.

“They play really good defense. Their pitching will really come at you and battle. They’ve limited their walks this year as compared to the past. They are a pretty well rounded team.”

The series begins in Lexington on Friday at 6:30pm. Saturday’s game is scheduled for 2pm with the series finale on Sunday slated for a 1pm first pitch.
