#Gamecocks 1st commitment of 2022 class changes course

Anthony Rose

SAF Anthony Rose of Hallandale, FL was the first commitment for Shane Beamer’s 2022 class at USC. Wednesday afternoon Rose tweeted he no longer was part of the class while announcing his recruitment is “100% open.”

Rose committed to the Gamecocks publicly on February 23rd picking them over other finalists Penn State and Arizona. His offer list also included Tennessee, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Kansas, LSU, Maryland, Mississippi State, Pitt, Syracuse and Michigan.

“Relationship with me and (secondary coach Torrian) Gray is a great bond,” Rose said leading up to his commitment.  “We see eye to eye.  He likes how I fly around the field, and how I can pull up and tackle.  And he says they can use me in many ways.”

Rose is part of one of the nation’s top high school secondaries coached by former Auburn star Junior Rosegreen. Gray has offered each member of that secondary, one of which is committed to Arizona State.

Rose is rated a three-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite and is ranked the #27 safety nationally in the class.

The Gamecocks now have three commitments for their 2022 class:

  • BRADEN DAVIS                                   QB    6-5   185              MIDDLETOWN, DE
