Coming off the Auburn win last week, and considering the 1-2 start of LSU, and the fact the Tigers would be starting a true freshman quarterback, there was strong optimism coming out of the USC camp that the Gamecocks could go into Death Valley Saturday night and play with, if not defeat, the defending national champions. But the Tigers answered the challenge from the opening bell and gradually punched the Gamecocks into submission 52-24. Freshman quarterback TJ Finley made the Gamecock defense look like rookies. He took the Tigers 75 yards in 16 plays in his first college drive and never looked back as the Tigers defeated the Gamecocks for the 7th straight time while scoring their most points ever in the series. The Gamecocks fall to 2-3 at the midway point of their season.. They will be off next week and then will host Texas A&M.
