A great opportunity awaits USC this weekend at LSU. The Gamecocks are back to .500 at 2-2 and on a two game winning streak, so a victory over the defending national champions in Death Valley would put them on the map nationally as a team on a genuine hot streak, and might get them back in the AP ranking for the first time since September 4th of 2018. The Gamecocks will be bolstered by the addition of transfer receiver Jalen Brooks who was approved for eligibility Wednesday morning by the NCAA. They also may not have to face LSU quarterback Myles Brennan, who is the first quarterback in LSU history to throw for over 300 yards in each of his first three career starts. But Brennan is dealing with a lower body injury according to coach Ed Orgeron and is “very doubtful” for Saturday. That means the Tigers would have to turn to one of two true freshmen…TJ Finley or Max Johnson. Neither has thrown a pass this season.
Earlier this week USC players met with the media via Zoom to talk about their recent successes and the big game at LSU in which they are a touchdown underdog.
