NASCAR President Steve Phelps Thursday closed the book on the drama surrounding driver Bubba Wallace and the noose found hanging from the door of garage #4 at Talledega. In his initial statement Sunday night, in which he informed the public of what was found, Phelps referred to what he thought had transpired as a hate crime. The FBI was called in and determined the pull rope with a noose on the end had been in place since the October race in 2019. Phelps Thursday recapped the events of the week including his initial comments, and took questions from the media.
