Christ Church rolls to second straight 1A Championship 67-21 over Johnsonville (AUDIO)

Christ Church win the 2A Championship

Friday afternoon’s 1A State Championship game at SC State was a rematch of last year’s final won by Christ Church over Johnsonville 43-20. The Cavaliers were even more dominant this time blowing out the Flashes 67-21 for their seventh all-time championship and second under head coach Quin Hatfield.

The Cavaliers struck quickly and never stopped. After recording a Johnsonville fumble on the first play from scrimmage, Christ Church scored on their second play with a 19-yard touchdown pass from Tucker Hendrix to Jude Hall. Throw in a 52-yard touchdown run by Dashun Reeder and a 60-yard punt return by Jackson Repp, and the Cavaliers led 20-0 after just 4:13 had come off the clock.

Christ Church built the lead to 42-14 at halftime, and only a running clock in the fourth quarter prevented more points from going up on the board by the Cavaliers who simply overmatched their Pee Dee rivals.

The Cavaliers finished with 429 yards on only 41 plays, averaging 10.5 yards per snap. Hendrix passed for five touchdowns, completing 9-11 passes for 242 yards. Reeder rushed for 125 yards and one touchdown. Repp caught five passes for 104 yards and a touchdown, and Hall had a pair of touchdown receptions.

Christ Church finishes the season with a 13-2 record, and Johnsonville finishes at 10-3.
