STRecruiting: Last weekend’s OVs continue to bear fruit for Clemson with a commitment from DE JiQuan Rogers

The positive fallout from last weekend’s official visits continued with a second commitment Tuesday afternoon from DE JiQuan Rogers (6-3 220) of Birmingham. He’s the third of the six defensive ends who visited to announce a commitment to the Tigers.

Rogers also had official visits scheduled with Arkansas, Georgia Tech, and Colorado. He also held offers from Memphis, Mississippi State, Florida, Florida State, and Southern Miss.

Rogers picked up his offer from the Tigers in mid-April, and from there, the relationship with head coach Dabo Swinney and defensive ends coach Chris Rump just got stronger.

“I love both of them,” Rogers said earlier this week. “It’s the same way towards me. They love me. I would be used in my first year as a third-down player to just go get the quarterback, and then develop. After my first year, I can develop into an all four down D-lineman.”

Rogers is the 21st commitment for the Tigers, the third at defensive end, and the ninth for the defensive side of the ball.

Last season, Rogers accounted for 56 tackles and 14 sacks.
