  • South Carolina couldn’t get the bats going in Athens, Saturday, posting just two hits in a 3-1 loss to Georgia in Game 2 of the series.
  • The Gamecocks scored its only run in the top of the first when Tyler Bak came home on KJ Scobey’s bases-loaded walk.
  • Georgia squared the game up 1-1 on Henry Allen’s home run in the home half of the second. The Dawgs took the lead on a two-run homer from Rylan Lujo in the sixth, saddling Gamecocks starter Amp Phillips (2-3) with the loss.
  • Phillips’ performance gave USC a chance, fanning nine and holding one of the nation’s best offenses to three runs in six innings.
  • The Gamecocks’ best chance to do significant damage came in the top of the first, but after Bak scored on Scobey’s walk, Georgia called on Paul Farley to relieve starter Dylan Vigue. Farley struck out Will Craddock on four pitches and induced an inning-ending ground ball from Luke Yuhasz to leave the bases loaded.
  • After stranding 13 runners in the loss, Friday, USC left another eight runners on base in Game 2.
  • For the second straight game, the Gamecocks bullpen held the Dawgs scoreless behind the efforts of Logan Prisco and Connor Chicoli.
  • USC has now dropped eight straight SEC road series dating back to the tail end of the Mark Kingston era (May 3-5, 2024 at Missouri).
  • South Carolina (13-15, 1-7) will look to salvage a game in the series at 1 p.m., Sunday.
