STRecruiting: Clemson vibes remain strong for 2027 OL Peyton Miller following the Elite Retreat

Texas offensive lineman Peyton Miller (6-5, 290) has been impressed with Clemson for quite a while. His visit to the “Elite Retreat” only enhanced his feelings. The 2027 prospect from Anna, Texas, is being heavily pursued by his in-state teams. However, none of them have Matt Luke on the staff.

“Coach Luke and Coach Cramer are both great communicators and have always been really easy to talk to,” Miller said. “They even text my parents, grandparents, and siblings. So it just made this weekend comfortable and easy, like it always is.”

Miller arrived on Friday afternoon to check out the first of two practices he witnessed over the weekend. He also spent time with some of the current players, including fellow Texas native Harris Sewell.

Saturday featured the second practice and an impassioned talk from Dabo Swinney about the program’s future and how these prospects fit into that vision. For some, lengthy speeches can drag on. But for Miller, it’s just another thing he likes about the Tigers head coach.

“Saturday was packed with practice, academics, athletics, and Coach Swinney spoke for a long time about the program as a whole,” he explained. “It was very informative, and it was hard not to be excited after that.”

That excitement grew further when getting the chance to evaluate his role within new offensive coordinator Chad Morris’ offense. Miller feels like the fit is seamless; he is currently working in a similar system back home that is all about tempo.

“It was great,” the Texan explained. “Coach Morris runs a style offense similar to what I’m in now. Lots of tempo. It was also cool to see guys get called out for individual comps. It definitely wasn’t boring.”

This weekend was another confirmation of his feelings on the program. Now, Miller is set to return for his official visit, with a decision expected in July.

“My OV is locked in for that last weekend of May. They’ve (Clemson) always been a top contender since they offered me at camp,” Miller clarified. The weekend “definitely firmed them up on the very short list.”

Texas, SMU, Arizona State, and Texas Tech all have scheduled official visits and have been locked in as top contenders for Miller’s recruitment. He also holds offers from Florida, Florida State, Arkansas, Duke, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. .
