Clemson was already in the hunt with RB Gary Walker (6-1 200) of Fairburn, GA, having locked him in for an official visit the weekend of May 29th. But, the Tigers hadn’t taken the next big step of making an offer, until Saturday.
Walker visited for the junior day and he left with an offer that he had been waiting on for an extended period. The offer puts Walker in the same recruiting space for Clemson with fellow running backs Tre Segarra and Andrew Beard, both of whom were also at Clemson Saturday.
“The visit was great,” Walker said. “Being around coach Dabo Swinney and seeing how the program operates stood out. The energy around the facility and the culture they’ve built there was really impressive.”
Walker made his way over to practice on Saturday where he got his first look at what a Chad Morris offense looks like.
“I got a chance to talk with Coach Chad Morris,” Walker said. “He sees me being explosive and an every-down back.”
Walker also has official visits set with Stanford, Virginia Tech, Penn State and Florida State. He also just picked up offers from Indiana and Tennessee.
Clemson, however, is now viewed in a different light since the Tigers are officially on his offer board.
“It was a blessing to finally receive an offer from Clemson,” Walker said. “Clemson is high on my list. Just continuing to build the relationship with the staff will be important moving forward.”
Walker rushed for 1700 yards and 20 touchdowns last season.
