KJ Scobey started the scoring with an RBI double in the first. After Princeton tied it with a solo home run in the top of the second, the Gamecocks put up two in the second on Tyler Bak’s single and scored four in the third, highlighted by a Logan Sutter two-run home run.

The Gamecocks put up six runs in the fifth as Talmadge LeCroy hit Carolina’s first grand slam of 2026. Another Scobey RBI double closed the scoring.

Will Craddock and Sutter had three hits apiece, while LeCroy drove in four runs. Sutter and Bak had three RBI apiece while Craddock had two RBI.

Amp Phillips struck out seven and allowed just four hits and a run with two walks in five innings to improve to 2-1 on the year. Hudson Lee and Zach Russell each pitched a scoreless inning for the Gamecocks.

USC has hit .356 in its five-game winning streak.

Paul Mainieri said the team has been hit hard by an illness with several players dealing with sickness. Patrick Evans missed the weekend because he was too sick to play, and actually went home to be with his family while recuperating.

South Carolina will now play its next four games on the road, starting with a Tuesday night (March 10) game at The Citadel. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Joe Riley Park  Following that, the Gamecocks will open SEC play at Florida Friday night.
