- Military Magnet proved once again proved to be the premiere girls’ program in Class A with a dominating 70-21 victory over Great Falls Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have won five of the last six Class A girls championships including the past two. The last loss to a Class A team game against Lake View in the 2024 playoffs.
- The dynasty might not be going away any time soon. Eighth grader Mariah Brown scored 25 points to lead three players in double figures. Kaleah Brown-King added 11 points and Da’nariyah Williams, the lone senior, chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds.
- Military Magnet will return two juniors, one sophomore, four freshmen, two eighth graders and two seventh graders next season.
- “These young ladies waited their turn starting with the lone senior we have to the seventh graders you see on the court. We have a strong program with strong middle school and rec programs as well,” coach Nathaniel Taylor said. “This one is sort of unreal because the team is so young.”
- It was a 22-5 lead after the first quarter and 50-13 at the half. The South Carolina High School League instituted a mercy rule this season that mandated a 40-point lead in the second half resulted in a running clock. Military Magnet (26-4) reached that mark at 5:18 of the third quarter when the lead reached 55-15.
- The Eagles forced 31 turnovers on 63 possessions with 23 steals. They also knocked down 9-of-20 three-pointers with Brown making 5-of-8.
- Makenzie Beatty led Great Falls (22-4) with eight points.
