- The Gamecocks led for over 35 minutes, and had a 34-28 halftime lead with Nordin Kapic and Kobe Knox combining for 18 points.
- Meechie Johnson hit a three to open the second half and give the Gamecocks a nine point lead at 37-28.
- Ole Miss then ripped off a 12-0 run to take a 40-37 lead. The Gamecocks responded to go back up by five, and never trailed again
- USC eventually built the lead back to nine with 4:48 left following a three-pointer by Elijah Strong and a pair of free throws by Kapic.
- The Rebels made one final run, outscoring the Gamecocks 10-1, to tie the game 61-61 with a minute left.
- Eli Ellis missed a three for USC with :33 to play. Ole Miss grabbed the rebound and played for the last shot, but turned the ball over with five seconds left.
- After each team called a timeout, the Gamecocks had to go the full length of the court. Johnson took the inbounds pass in the backcourt and dribbled to the logo on the right side of the frontcourt. From there, he launched a three-pointer that hit nothing but net with seven-tenths of a second left on the clock.
- Ole Miss had a final three-quarter court heave that hit the top of the backboard, and the Gamecocks left Oxford with their fourth SEC win of the season.
