A rising prospect in eastern North Carolina is DT Amir Moore (6-8 265) of Wallace. A former basketball player, he’s now focused on football, and the offers are starting to roll in. His latest one came on Monday from South Carolina.
“They had followed me not too long ago, and we were texting, and then they talked to my coach a little bit, and we talked, and they offered me,” Moore said. “They liked how I used to play basketball and how I play both, and it transfers over.”
And what transfers over the most is his quickness and his get-off speed against offensive linemen.
“When they first get off the ball, that’s one of my strengths because I apply my quickness and get around them quick,” Moore said.
Last season, Moore totaled 44 tackles with 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and nine quarterback hurries.
Moore also has offers from Nebraska, Florida, Appalachian State, Charlotte, Ole Miss, Coastal Carolina, James Madison, and Campbell.
He plans to start setting up some spring visits later this week, and he said USC will get one of them. He has not yet visited the Gamecocks.
