STRecruiting: One glance at the tape was all it took for Clemson to get interested in 2027 RB Carter Wallace

To find Jonesboro, Arkansas, on the map, you need to head northwest about seventy miles from Memphis, Tennessee. In searching for a talented tailback, all Clemson needed to do was view some game film. That’s where the Tigers saw Carter Wallace (5-11, 200) of Valley View High School in Jonesboro.

The 2027 prospect currently holds offers from several P4 programs, including Army, Duke, Syracuse, Missouri, Minnesota, Kentucky, and Wake Forest, among others. He also has one from his hometown school of Arkansas State. And you can now add Clemson to the mix of schools showing interest in Wallace.

For him, all it took for the Tigers to enter the ring was for new assistant running backs coach Artavis Scott to view his tape.

“They love the way I run, and they can see me as a fit for their program,” Wallace explained when asked about Clemson’s interest in him.

That love on film translated into a quick visit with CJ Spiller and Chad Morris, hoping to get some time with a player that suddenly appeared on the Tigers’ radar.

Wallace was able to get on campus on January 30 and spend time with the staff, which was his first time on Clemson’s campus. He heard about the Clemson experience from a friend who visited Dabo Swinney’s high school camp, but once Wallace saw what the Tigers had to offer, he came away very impressed.

“This was my personal first time here,” he said. “The facilities, man, they were huge, and just getting to meet the coaching staff and getting to talk to them, it’s definitely a family culture, and I can see why they won a couple of national championships a few years back, and they’re a real, just legit winning culture program.”

Wallace had lunch with Morris, Spiller, and Scott, and he toured the facilities with his family. He also made sure to schedule a return to campus, hoping to check out spring practice in the near future. And though he left campus without an offer, the relationship is steadily growing.

“So I’m not currently offered, but they said they do really like me, and it could be in the near future, and just really building that relationship is important,” Wallace noted. “As it stands right now, they’ve only offered two 2027 running backs, so it would definitely be a big-time offer for me.”

Wallace hopes to release his top five in April and believes an offer from Clemson would make the Tigers serious contenders down the road.

Last season, Wallace rushed for over 1500 yards and 27 touchdowns, and he averaged over eight yards per carry.
