Florida 95-USC 48 Game Summary
- This was over early and had many of the students in attendance turning a white out into a walk out. The Gators led by four with 12:12 left in the first half and then unleashed a 23-3 run that turned the game on its head as the Gamecocks suffered their most lopsided under Lamont Paris.
- Florida isn’t known for three point shooting, but the Gators made three during that run, along with a variety of layups and dunks. On the other hand, the Gamecocks missed 11 straight field goal attempts.
- The Gators led by 28 at the half, and all that was left was naming the final score, because the Gamecocks showed no signs of being able to put up a fight in the second half. And they didn’t.
- The Gators scored the first six points of the second half, and eventually built a 43 point lead. South Carolina missed its first five shots of the second half and finished the half 8-29 (27.6%).
- With no way to counter the Gators superior size, the Gamecocks were dominated in all the big-man categories; 45-24 in rebounds, 54-20 in the paint, 12-0 in dunk points, 13-0 second chance points.
- The Gators came into the game last in the SEC in three-point shooting, but they dominated that phase of the game as well knocking down 9-21 to 3-20 by USC.
- USC finished with a 26% shooting night, its poorest shooting night of the season, and their two made three-pointers are the fewest of the season.
- Elis Ellis with 13 points and Meechie Johnson with 10 points combined to score 23 of the Gamecocks’ 48 points. They were a combined 6 of 22 from the floor. Florida had five in double figures led by Thomas Haugh with 18 points. Rueben Chinyelu had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.
- Florida tied the SEC record for margin of victory in an SEC road game with the 47 point spread.
- USC is now 11-10 overall and 2-6 in the SEC and will host LSU Saturday night. Florida is 15-6 overall and 6-2 in the SEC and will host Alabama on Sunday.

•Surely this nightmare of a season and miserable 4-year tenure are getting much closer to an end. This simply can’t go on another season. I can’t remember a Gamecock men’s basketball team losing by 47 points, much less at home, period.
