The Clemson men and the USC women each went 1-1 last week, and that cost them in the AP polls released on Monday afternoon. The Tigers lost to NC State at home before bouncing back with a win at Georgia Tech. The Gamecocks lost in overtime at Oklahoma, then took out their frustrations on Vanderbilt Sunday in Columbia.
Clemson was dropped four spots by the voters to #22. The Tigers were ranked as high as #17, but 14 voters left them out of the Top 25 altogether. South Carolina’s AP voter, Scott Hamilton, ranked the Tigers 20th in his poll.
The Gamecocks were dropped one spot to third in the Women’s Top 25. They are one of a record ten SEC teams in the Top 25 this week. The two voters from the state, Michael Sauls and Matt Dowellk, both ranked USC third in their polls. The Gamecocks were ranked as high as second and as slow as fifth. UConn and UCLA are ranked ahead of them.
