Clemson did not corral RB Chris Johnson Jr. (6-0 184) of SMU in the first go-around in recruiting, but the Tigers got him this time in free agency. Johnson, regarded as one of the fastest players in college football, announced his contract agreement with Clemson on Sunday afternoon via Hayes Fawcett of On3. This will be the third college stop for Johnson, who signed with Miami out of high school in Fort Lauderdale. One of his official visits back then was to Clemson, and he made a return visit this week. He also visited Clemson on October 18th when SMU beat the Tigers. Johnson totaled 99 yards in that game, 59 yards on the ground, including a touchdown. He averaged 9.8 yards per carry. This season, he finished with 479 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and 17 catches for 180 yards and a score. Johnson is the first free agent pickup on the offensive side for Clemson. The Tigers now have ten on the books.
