

Shreveport, LA: The football programs for both Coastal Carolina and Louisiana Tech had a combined 62 days off between the end of the regular season and Tuesday’s 49th annual Independence Bowl. On a sunny and cool afternoon in Shreveport, Louisiana, it showed.
The two teams combined for 25 penalties and seven turnovers as the Bulldogs erased a 14-3 halftime deficit to pick up a 23-14 triumph over the Chanticleers in front of an announced crowd of 30,298 at Independence Stadium. The 17 combined penalties in the first half were a season high in the FBS, with the two teams finishing with 228 penalty yards, just sixty-seven yards shy of the total offensive output for Louisiana Tech on the afternoon. .

The Chanticleers struck first in the opening quarter when quarterback Tad Hudson connected with Dominic Knicely on a 20-yard touchdown pass to cap a crisp opening drive. Coastal continued to build momentum in the second quarter, as Hudson found Robby Washington in the end zone from 16 yards out to give the Chanticleers a 14–3 lead heading into halftime.
Coastal’s offense moved the ball efficiently through the air in the first half, while the defense limited Louisiana Tech to a pair of field goals over the first three quarters. The Bulldogs closed the gap with scores late in the third and early in the fourth quarter before pulling ahead in the final period.
Hudson finished the afternoon 25-of-49 passing for 311 yards and two touchdowns. Bryson Graves led the receiving corps with a team-high total in catches (6) and yards (99), while the Chanticleers’ defense recorded four takeaways.
Coastal ends the 2025 season (6-7).
