STRecruiting Notebook: Witten has Clemson in top 10; Peterson passes on Tigers; USC to have big gathering of recruits Saturday

Clemson made the top ten cut with 2027 LB Cooper Witten of Argyle, TX. The others on his short list are Texas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M and Tennessee. Witten visited Clemson for a game in September, and was also in for a camp last summer. He’s the son of former Dallas Cowboys star tight end Jason Witten.

Clemson target CB Julian Peterson committed to North Carolina. He’s a former Penn State commitment. He also made official visits to Clemson, UNC and Wisconsin.

Ashley Ridge OG Cody Peterson (6-5 315) plans to take an unofficial visit to South Carolina Saturday. He has offers from Lenoir-Rhyne, Newberry and Wingate, with the Bears standing out the most at this point. He’s talked some with USC and has been to several games. The Gamecocks have been talking with him about a PWO opportunity. He’s been taking with Shawn Elliott and Sam Serbay. “They said they like my film and how I have developed over the past four years into what I am now.” Peterson said he considers the PWO offer as just another opportunity. He will take an official visit to Lenoir-Rhyne December 6th. He won’t sign until February.
