Pay back is hell as Oklahoma comes to Columbia and waxes South Carolina 26-7 Saturday afternoon (VIDEO/AUDIO)

WILLIAMS-BRICE STADIUM: Last season South Carolina ventured into Norman, OK for the first ever meeting with the Sooners and shocked the home crowd 35-9. Twelve months later, the 14th ranked Sooners returned the favor, with a convincing 26-7 win that had many of the Gamecock fans hitting the exits early in the third quarter.

The Sooners top-ranked defense was too strong for the USC offense in the second half. Oklahoma led 14-7 going into the third quarter after the Gamecocks got on the board late in the first half on a two-yard touchdown pass from LaNorris Sellers to Nyck Harbor. After that, nada. The Gamecocks second half possessions ended with two interceptions, a safety, a turnover on downs and three punts.

One of those picks came on a fake punt that set up the Sooners at the USC 49 and led to a John Mateer to Isaiah Sategna 20-yard touchdown pass for a 24-7 Oklahoma lead.

USC did not cross the 50 in the second half until the backups were in on a mop up possession at the end of the game.

The first half was much different in that the Gamecocks pretty much held their own. After Oklahoma took the opening possession of the game 75 yards in 10 plays for a score, which came on an 18-yard run by Tory Blaylock, USC responded with a ten play, 72 yard drive.

Shane Beamer opted to go for the touchdown on fourth down from the five, and LaNorris Sellers was stopped after a two yard gain.

After Oklahoma scored in the second quarter for a 14-0 lead, the Gamecocks responded again and moved the ball to a first and goal at the Oklahoma one. This time they broke through. After three straight runs into the line by Matthew Fuller lost a yard, Sellers found Nyck Harbor in the end zone for a two-yard touchdown pass to make it a 14-7 game at the half.

And that was all she wrote for the Gamecock offense. The defense did what it could in the second half holding the Sooners to just 86 total yards, and allowing just one touchdown, after a turnover, and one field goal.

The Gamecocks drop to 3-4 overall and 1-4 in the SEC with Alabama coming to Columbia next weekend for Homecoming.
