Shane Beamer opened his weekly press conference by thanking South Carolina fans who made the trip to LSU, calling their support “awesome.” With Oklahoma coming to Williams-Brice on Saturday, Beamer urged fans to arrive early, especially with the State Fair taking place right across the street. Kickoff is set for 12:45 p.m., and Beamer said, “We know there’s gonna be a lot of traffic. We need you here early.”

Beamer spent part of his time talking about new offensive line coach Shawn Elliott, joking that Oklahoma might want to watch every game he’s ever coached at App State, Georgia State and South Carolina to get a feel for his blocking schemes. He said the biggest change so far is simply having a new voice in the room. “More than anything, the room just needed that,” Beamer said, noting some tweaks in technique and terminology but adding, “You can’t blow the whole thing up in a week.” Beamer also said Elliott’s energy has already shown up at practice, describing him lined up like a linebacker over the center, “yelling, screaming, barking.”
